On March 19, the national iron and steel industry transformation and low carbon utilization Committee held a meeting to promote the development of the iron and steel industry. Relevant personnel from China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, China Iron and Steel Industry Association, China Building Materials Federation and other units attended the meeting.
The meeting pointed out that the central economic work conference clearly identified carbon peaking and carbon neutralization as one of the eight major tasks, which fully reflected the great importance attached by the Party Central Committee to this work. The national development and Reform Commission will resolutely implement the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, pay close attention to the study and introduction of relevant policies and measures, organize relevant departments to actively prepare the carbon peak program, and actively promote the green low-carbon transformation and sustainable development of relevant industries. The first is to study and formulate carbon peaking schemes for steel, non-ferrous metals, building materials and other industries, so as to help achieve the national goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutralization; the second is to grasp the industry's own potential in combination with the reality of traditional high energy consuming industries, so as to promote industrial transformation and upgrading and structural optimization; the third is to improve energy utilization efficiency, so as to promote the efficient allocation and utilization of energy resources.
